Garlic Planting Labor Practice
In order to implement labor education and enable students to get close to nature, experience the joy of farming, and feel the mystery of life's growth, on the afternoon of September 29th, the second grade of the Primary School Department carried out a labor practice activity for growing garlic.
To begin with, before the activity began, the labor teacher introduced the appearance and growth habits of garlic to the students, explaining the planting points: the garlic cloves should be placed with the sprout tip facing up and the root facing down, the soil should not be too thick, and an appropriate amount of water should be given after planting. In the meantime, the children listened carefully, curiously observed the garlic cloves in their hands, and could not wait to be a "little planter."
Moreover, arriving at the labor planting plot, the students acted in groups. Everyone meticulously broke apart the garlic cloves, gently scraped away the soil with small shovels, placed the garlic cloves neatly in, then gently covered them with soil, and finally watered them carefully, during which everyone helped each other, divided the work and cooperated, and earnestly completed each planting step.
In a nutshell, this planting activity moved the classroom into nature. In addition, second-grade students experienced the hardship and joy of farming through the labor process of turning soil, sowing seeds, covering soil, and watering, and understood that food does not come easily. Later, each class would continue to carry out observation records, waiting quietly for the garlic sprouts to break through the soil. More remarkably, Anqing Foreign Language School will continue to rely on the labor practice base to carry out diverse labor education activities, letting the seeds of labor take root in the children's hearts.
